What you experience

You receive a text about a package missing a small customs or delivery payment. The message looks like it comes from PostNord or GLS, and you are asked to click a link and pay.

Pay extra attention if...

The message contains a payment link. If customs or payment is missing on a real package, you normally receive a message in e-Boks or directly in the delivery company's app.

If you have already clicked the link

Call your bank and block your card. Even if no money has been withdrawn yet. You can say: "I think I clicked a fake payment link."

What you experience

You receive a call from someone who says they are from the bank or the police. They tell you someone is trying to hack your account and that you need to act quickly.

Pay extra attention if...

You are asked to:

  • transfer money
  • share codes
  • approve something in MitID

Real banks and authorities never ask you to do that over the phone.

If you have already done it

Hang up. Call your bank on the number on the back of your card - not the number that just called you. You can say: "I think I approved something I should not have."

What you experience

You receive a message from a new number from someone pretending to be your child or grandchild. They urgently need money and say it cannot wait.

Pay extra attention if...

You are asked to send money quickly to a new number or a new account.

If you have already sent money

Call the bank immediately. Some transfers can be stopped if you react quickly. You can say: "I think I was tricked into sending money."

Hi grandma, I lost my phone. Writing from a friend's number.
Can you quickly transfer 8,000 kr. for a bill that has to be paid tonight? You will get it back tomorrow ❤️
It is a bit urgent

What you experience

You find a good offer on Facebook or Google and order an item. But the item never arrives - or it is something completely different than expected.

Pay extra attention if...

The price seems too good to be true, or you have never heard of the shop before. You also cannot find the shop's website mentioned anywhere else.

If you have already paid

Contact the bank and tell them you think you bought from a fake webshop.

What you experience

Your computer freezes, and a phone number appears on screen. When you call, the person wants to help you for a fee.

Pay extra attention if...

You are asked to:

  • to pay for help
  • install something
  • give access to the computer

If you have already paid

Turn off the computer and contact the bank if you paid by card, so the card can be blocked.

What you experience

You see an ad on Facebook or a news site. A famous person "explains" how they made a lot of money from investment or crypto.

You may enter your phone number to hear more. Shortly after, a friendly "advisor" calls and helps you get started.

At first it often looks as if your money is growing. But when you want to withdraw it, new fees or payments suddenly appear.

Pay extra attention if...

You are contacted directly by someone who wants to help you invest your money. Real banks and investment firms do not call you unsolicited and promise quick gains.

If you have already sent money

Stop sending more money - even if they say you will soon receive your profits. Call your bank and tell them you think you have been scammed in connection with an investment. Also talk with someone you trust.

What you experience

You get to know someone online. You write a lot, maybe over a long period, and the relationship feels close and real. At some point, the person asks you for money.

Pay extra attention if...

The person:

  • cannot meet
  • always has an excuse
  • asks for money or help

If you have already sent money

Stop the contact. Do not send more money. Call your bank, report it to the police and share it with someone you care about. You can say: "I sent money to someone I met online - but I now think it was fraud."

Hi love, I have a problem...
The bank has frozen my account, and I cannot pay the hospital
Can you help me with 5,000 kr.? You will get it back as soon as my account is open again ❤️

What you experience

You receive a call that sounds exactly like your child or grandchild. They are in trouble and need money immediately. The voice sounds right - it is their way of saying "mum" or "grandad" on.

Pay extra attention if...

You are pressured to act quickly and keep it secret in a call with a "family member".

If you have already sent money

Call the family member yourself on the number you usually use. Then contact the bank immediately. You can say: "I transferred money to someone I thought was my family - but it was not." It can also be a good idea to agree on a family code word - an ordinary word no one else knows - so you can always verify each other.
